
Island Health and the Capital Regional District (RCD) have issued a beach advisory for Hamsterly Beach at Elk Lake in Saanich because of high bacteria.
The advisory says “preliminary sample results showed bacteriological counts exceeding acceptable guideline limits in the water.”
Island Health and the CRD says entering the water is not recommended for people or pets since it may be unsafe for swimming and other recreational activities.

Further sampling of the lake is underway and signs are being posted of the advisory.
