He's on the mend and returning to host Jeopardy! for a 36th season starting Sept. 9. Who is Alex Trebek?

You’ll find Alex Trebek in his familiar spot behind the lectern when Jeopardy! returns for a 36th season on Monday, Sept. 9.

The show announced on Thursday that taping of the popular game show had resumed on July 22 and there are already 40 shows completed for the new season.

In March, the Sudbury, Ont. born Trebek announced that he had been diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer.

“I’ve gone through a lot of chemotherapy and thankfully that is now over,” said Trebek in a promotional trailer for the upcoming season.

“I’m on the mend, that’s all I can hope for right now.”

He had joked in March that he had to beat the disease “because under the terms of my contract, I have to host ‘Jeopardy!’ for three more years.

Much to the relief of his legions of fans, it appears to be so far, so good for the 78-year-old game show host.

Jeopardy! airs on CHEK Monday to Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
