Residents of Saanich can have their say on where their tax dollars are being allocated.

The District of Saanich launched a new online budget simulation tool and survey, allowing residents to indicate how they’d like funding allocated in different categories, such as policing, capital projects and engineering.

There is also a survey where residents can identify their spending priorities for the 2024 budget.

The survey is available until Feb. 14, with all the findings being given to council.

This is part of the district’s new public engagement platform, HelloSaanich, which is designed to be a central hub to share information and receive public input.

Budget deliberations

Council will hold three special budget meetings between March 5 and April 16 to discuss the 2024 budget.

Residents are able to share their feedback during the public input sections by dropping off written feedback at the Municipal Hall drop box by noon on the day of the meeting or registering to call in and speak at the meeting.

The district will also accept email submissions to [email protected] or [email protected] by noon on the day of the meeting.

Council will adopt the Financial Plan and Tax Rate Bylaws by May 15.
