
Starting Monday, those looking for a quick ride between Nanaimo and Port Alberni will have the option.
The helicopter transport service, Helijet, will be offering one ride each way once a day starting Monday.
The chopper will leave the company’s Nanaimo heliport location at 9:30 a.m. and arrive in Port Alberni just 20 minutes later.
The following hour, it will leave Port Alberni at 10:30 a.m. and return to Nanaimo for 10:50 a.m.
Tickets start at $175 for a one-way trip and require special booking. The price tag may be appealing for those looking to avoid the detour.
