An air ambulance helicopter flight from Nanaimo to Victoria was subjected to an intentional and repeated laser strike this weekend.
According to a Transport Canada occurrence report, a Sikorsky S-76C helicopter was approaching Victoria General Hospital on Saturday night when the pilot reported a “deliberate and ongoing” laser strike.
The helicopter, operated by Helijet International, was arriving from Nanaimo Harbour when the incident occurred less than 2 kilometres from Victoria International Airport.
There were no injuries.
