The streets are covered with snow and many schools are not open today.
Environment Canada said snowfall with total amounts ranging from 10 to 40 centimetres occurred on parts of Vancouver Island on Sunday.
And another storm is on its way. There is a snowfall warning in effect for west Vancouver Island, inland Vancouver Island, Greater Victoria, the southern Gulf Islands, the Malahat highway from Goldstream to Mill Bay, and east Vancouver Island, from Courtenay to Campbell River, Duncan to Nanaimo and Nanoose Bay to Fanny Bay.
Environment Canada said another low pressure system will bring 15 to 25 cm of snow to the South Coast. beginning this afternoon and continuing into Tuesday morning. This second disturbance will spread snow to virtually the entire South Coast with heaviest amounts falling tonight. Total snowfall amounts will vary across the region with 15 to 25 cm falling in most areas and the highest amounts likely on Vancouver Island and on the Vancouver north shore.

Cowichan Valley School District 79
All schools will be closed on Monday.
Pacific Christian School, located in Victoria
The school will be closed on Monday.
Sooke School District 62
All schools are closed.
Nanaimo Christian School
School has been cancelled for Monday.
Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools 68
All schools will be closed on Monday.
Lighthouse Christian Academy, located in Langford
The school is closed due to road conditions and more snow in the forecast.
Vancouver Island University
All VIU campuses and facilities, except Powell River, are closed for the day Monday due to extreme weather conditions.
Saanich School District
All Saanich schools are closed Monday because of the unsafe road conditions on the peninsula.
Comox Valley School District 71
All schools are closed Monday because of road conditions following Sunday’s snowfall and the anticipation of more snow on the way today.
Greater Victoria School District 61
All schools are closed due to inclement weather and worsening conditions.
School District 69 Qualicum
All school and school district work sites are closed today and no buses are running.
St Michaels University School, located in Victoria
The school is closed due to snow and road conditions.
École Victor-Brodeur, located in Esquimalt
School is closed.
École Beausoleil, located in Oak Bay
School is closed.
Arc Academy of Inquiry, located in Victoria
School is closed due to weather conditions.
North Island College
The NIC campus in the Comox Valley is closed today. Campbell River, Port Hardy and Port Alberni campuses are open.
Camosun College
Camosun College’s Landsdown and Interurban campuses were open but classes are cancelled tonight starting at 3:30 p.m. All services and buildings will close at 4 p.m.
Royal Roads University: Open
The campus is open. The library and recreation centre closed at 2:30 p.m. and Habitat Cafe will remain open until 7 p.m.
University of Victoria
Campus was open in the morning but all classes are cancelled starting at 3:30 p.m. Campus services, including libraries, CARSA, computing labs and retail food outlets will close at 4:30 p.m.
Campbell River School District 72: Open
All schools are open and buses are running.
School District 70 (Alberni)
All schools are open and buses are running.
