Atmospheric river brings heavy rain to Vancouver Island

An atmospheric river brought heavy rain to Vancouver Island on Sunday.

On the west coast of Vancouver Island, the storm delivered over 130 millimetres of rain in Tofino and Ucluelet along with heavy winds.

Environment and Climate Change Canada had issued a special weather statement for many regions of Vancouver Island, including Greater Victoria warning that heavy rain is expected throughout Sunday but will ease during the night hours as the system passes.

Total rainfall amounts of near 40 to 70 millimetres were expected for most regions of Vancouver Island, except the west coast where Environment Canada had predicted 100 millimetres.
