Though a swim in this weather may not be on the top of everyone’s to-do list, The Capital Regional District (CRD) is warning residents against doing so off Greater Victoria’s shorelines.

Recent heavy rains have caused wastewater to overflow in three locations: Cadboro Bay between Rutland Road and Seaview Road, between Trafalgar Park and Radcliffe Lane in Oak Bay, and Fraser Street and Victoria View Road in Esquimalt.

“As a result of these discharges, residents are advised to avoid entering the waters along the affected shorelines, as the wastewater may pose a health risk,” said the CRD in a statement.

In consultation with Island Health and local municipalities, advisory signs will be posted within the affected areas until the bacteria levels go below the recreational limit.

So for now, swimmers are suggested to stick to the pool.
