Royal Roads University is reminding people that Hatley Park is closed to vehicles and visitors are also not allowed in the formal gardens.

The university is located within Hatley Park National Historic Site. Parks Canada announced earlier this week it has temporarily suspended all vehicle access by visitors at all national historic sites and national parks, until further notice.

Parks Canada is also asking Canadians to stay home and said anyone considering a visit to a Parks Canada location, including those in urban areas, cancel their plans.

To comply with the Parks Canada measure, Royal Roads is obliged to close the Hatley Park grounds to vehicle access by visitors.

Visitor parking facilities and the Hatley Park gardens are also closed to the public to encourage physical distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Royal Roads campus is open to essential staff and for essential functions.  Hatley Park trails and grounds remain open to the public at this time but people must respect physical distance.
