Over half a million books go on sale Saturday morning at 9 AM in Victoria

CHEK

It’s the Times Colonist’s 18th annual used Book Sale all weekend long at the Victoria Curling Club.

Hard covers & paperbacks, every imaginable genre of reading matter priced at $3.00, $2.00 or just $1.00.

TC editor-in-chief Dave Obee recalled, …”the book sale started in 1998 after we heard there was a government funding problem for school libraries… we  raised 20 thousand dollars the first year but over the 20 years of doing the sale we?ve now raised 4.7 million dollars.”

250 volunteers from the community have worked tirelessly over the past week categorizing the thousands of books….everything from Donald Trump’s How To Make A Million Dollars to an Idiot’s Guide to Becoming Rich.

While the doors open Saturday morning at 9, Dave made a point of mentioning that the lineup to get in usually starts anytime after midnight tonight.
