UPDATE: Environment Canada has now issued wind warnings for all of Vancouver Island, excluding the North Island.

Original story below:

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for many parts of Vancouver Island for Monday.

A strong low pressure system is being credited with bringing the very strong winds. Vancouver Island, excluding the north Island, may see winds between 50 to 80 km/h, with gusts up to 100 km/h.

Environment Canada is unsure of the track of the low pressure system, and has given three scenarios for the storms landfall. They range from Comox and Powell River receiving the strongest winds, to the most powerful winds being confined to Greater Victoria.

Environment Canada says that wind warnings will likely be issued for some regions once the track of the low becomes more certain.

Visit Environment Canada’s website for more details.
