Growing ridership demand sees BC Transit extend late-night service in Greater Victoria, add additional buses

The end of the upcoming Labour Day long weekend will see BC Transit usher in changes to reflect growing demand.

As of Tuesday, September 3, late-night service will be extended by one hour on several routes including:

  • 4 UVic/Downtown
  • 6 Downtown/Royal Oak Exchange
  • 14 UVic/Vic General
  • 15 Esquimalt/UVic
  • 27 Gordon Head/Downtown
  • 28 Majestic/Downtown
  • 50 Langford/Downtown

BC Transit says it is also increasing frequency and reliability on other routes including:

  • 26 Dockyard/UVic: service frequency improvements (all service days)
  • 32 Royal Oak/Cordova Bay: weekend frequency improvements
  • 39 Westhills/Interurban/Royal Oak/UVic: service frequency improvements (all days)

It has also announced the eight additional heavy-duty buses are being added to the fleet.

“These service improvements are a direct result of the growing ridership numbers we are seeing in our region, said Susan Brice, Chair, Victoria Regional Transit Commission

“By making public transit a safe and convenient option, we anticipate those numbers to grow even more.”
