Grocery store workers in three different communities on Vancouver Island recently tested positive for COVID-19.

According to a recent information bulletin posted on Sobey’s website, employees at Thrifty Foods locations in Saanich, North Cowichan, and Courtenay received positive tests for the novel coronavirus.

The company says the employee working at the Saanich store, located on 3475 Quadra St., last worked on Sept. 11.

The employee working at the North Cowichan store, located on 2755 Beverly St., last worked on Sept. 12.

The employee working at the Courtenay store, which is located on 1551 Cliffe Ave. near 17th Street, last worked on Sept. 15.

Sobey’s, the parent company of Thrifty Foods, does not disclose when employees tested positive, saying instead that they work with public health to support those who become infected.

“We will always do everything we can to support our teammates and ensure their safety,” reads a statement on the company’s website.

The company is one of the few remaining large corporations operating in B.C. to publicly announce if their employees test positive for COVID.
