Victoria grocery store worker tests positive for COVID-19

A grocery store worker in Victoria has tested positive for COVID-19.

According to a recent notice on Sobey’s website, an employee working at Thrifty Foods on 475 Simcoe St., in Victoria recently tested positive for COVID-19.

The employee’s last day working at the store was Sept. 6

Sobey’s, the parent company of Thrifty Foods, does not disclose when employees tested positive, saying instead that they work with public health to support those who become infected.

“We will always do everything we can to support our teammates and ensure their safety,” reads a statement on the company’s website.

The company is also one of the few remaining large corporations operating in B.C. to announce when their employees test positive for COVID.
