Another grocery store employee in the Comox Valley has tested positive for COVID-19

According to an information bulletin posted on Sobey’s website, an additional employee at the Thrifty Foods on Cliffe Avenue in Courtenay recently tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

The employee’s last day worked at the location was Sept. 17.

It comes less than a week after the company announced that an employee working at the same Courtenay location had tested positive for COVID-19, with their last day worked being Sept. 15.

Sobey’s, the parent company of Thrifty Foods, does not disclose when employees tested positive, instead, saying that they work with public health to support those who become infected.

“We will always do everything we can to support our teammates and ensure their safety,” reads a statement on the company’s website.

The company is one of the few remaining large corporations operating in B.C. to publicly announce if their employees test positive for COVID.
