Grizzlies take down Kings in Game 3

CHEK

WATCH: The Victoria Grizzlies were in desperate need of a win on the road in Game Three, and they pulled through. The Grizzlies defeated the Powell River Kings 3-1 on Monday night, to cut the Kings’ series lead to two games to one.

Kurtis Chapman, back from an injury, was sensational in goal for Victoria. Chapman made 35 saves in the win, many of which were key down the final minutes of the game. The Kings actually scored the first goal of the game, Ben Berard tucked the puck over Chapman’s shoulder midway through the first period to give the home team the lead. The Grizzlies wouldn’t find the equalizer until early in the third period, as the Kings coughed up the puck in their own end on the power play breakout and Cam Thompson sniped the puck past the Kings netminder Matteo Paler-Chow to even the game at one.

Late in the period, Grizzlies forward Marty Westhaver jammed the loose puck past Paler-Chow to give the Grizzlies the lead with just under five minutes remaining. Thompson would add an empty-netter for the Grizzlies to give them a 3-1 victory.

Game Four is Tuesday night in Powell River before the series returns back in Victoria on Friday.
