Grizzlies roll, Capitals pull off upset in BCHL playoffs

WATCH: The BCHL post-season is officially underway, with the entire Island Division playing their first game over the past two evenings.

The Cowichan Valley Capitals kicked off the playoffs with a bang, taking down the top team from the Interior Division, the Penticton Vees in their own barn by a score of 4-1.

For context, the Vees finished the regular season with 79 points, the Capitals, 40. A monumental upset to start their best-of-seven series.

In Victoria, the Grizzlies steamrolled the visiting Alberni Valley Bulldogs by a score of 8-3 in game one at the Q Centre.

Grizzlies forward Alex Campbell recorded two goals and two assists for a four-point evening to propel the ‘Grizz’ to a 1-0 series lead.

In another Island Division rivalry, the Powell River Kings edged the Nanaimo Clippers 3-2 in game one of their first-round series.

Game two of all three series takes place on Saturday night, highlights tomorrow on CHEK.
