There’s some good news for people who were not able to return their library books during the snowstorms this week.

The Greater Victoria Public Library announced Thursday it would waive late fines on all library materials due Feb. 11, 12 and 13.

“We know our patrons make their best effort to return their library items on time,” Maureen Sawa, GVPL CEO, said in a statement. “Given the inclement weather, we are waiving all library fines for materials that were due February 11, 12 and 13.”

People who already paid their fines for items due on Feb. 11, 12 and 13 will receive a credit.

GVPL provides services and collections to 12 libraries and more than 380,000 residents in 10 municipalities.

The Vancouver Island Regional Libary is also waiving any fines that incurred as a result of any branch closures during the storms.
