Daisy Collis was struck in a crosswalk in Nanaimo, friends say.

A GoFundMe page has been started to aid a 24-year-old woman who was struck by a vehicle in a crosswalk in Nanaimo on Nov. 11.

The woman, identified by friends as Daisy Collis, was hit by the vehicle around 8:40 p.m.

Police say they spoke with witnesses and the driver of the vehicle, which was a newer model Dodge Aries. The driver remained on scene following the collision. Based on the statements, police say it appears the 31-year-old female driver was going south along Bruce Avenue at the time of the crash. The roads were slick and there was a glare on the road, according to police. Officers also said the crosswalk is not lit and the pedestrian was wearing non-reflective clothing.

The Dodge Aries was seized by police and will undergo a mechanical inspection, police said.

The GoFundMe page says that Collis suffered life-threatening injuries but is now in stable condition.

The page, organized by Codie Bonner, is seeking funds to aid Collis through her recovery, as she and her boyfriend will both be unable to work during that time.
