A GoFundMe has been started for an East Sooke family after a terrifying fire destroyed their home Thursday night.
Witnesses described the fire at the home on Jupiter Place as an explosion, triggering responses from multiple fire departments. Everyone in the home made it out safe, and an excavator was brought in to destroy what is left.
Friends of the family are hoping to raise some funds to help with the cost of replacing items, including clothes, furniture and belongings and help get the family through the likely very difficult next couple of months.
A goal of $5,000 has been set and as of Saturday afternoon, the fundraiser has raised $3,700.
