CHEK

Drivers in Greater Victoria can expect to wake up to an unpleasant surprise this Halloween, the price of a litre of regular gasoline has jumped to $1.37.9 at many gas stations.

According to website Victoriagasprices.com, more than a dozen retailers across Greater Victoria had raised prices to $1.37.9 by late Monday, a few had a litre listed at $1.35.9, while handful of gas stations still listed their price at $1.25.9 or less.

According to experts, it is rare for prices in the Fall to top the average cost seen during the summer.

One cause could be demand for gasoline continuing to exceed expectations in the United State

Across the Island, a litre of regular gasoline was averaging around 1.22.9 in Campbell River, 126.9 in Nanaimo and Port Alberni, and 132.9 in Duncan on Monday night, although prices can differ from area to area and station to station.
