A wildfire is burning on Nanaimo’s Mount Benson, about 7 kilometres West of the city

The fire on Mount Benson sparked Saturday afternoon and has now grown to 4 hectares in size.

Fire officials say it is human caused, but the exact nature of the start is under investigation.

Two helicopters and a dozen crews are on the ground battling it.

Air tankers are dropping fire retardent trying to create fire lines to stop its spread.

Fire broke out on private forest land, where trees have been cut down.

No structures or homes are threatened by this fire.
