Environment Canada has issued a fog advisory for the majority of Vancouver Island, including Victoria.

Environment Canada has issued a fog advisory for the majority of Vancouver Island.

The weather agency says the advisory is in effect for Greater Victoria, including the Malahat Highway, Northern Vancouver Island, Southern Gulf Islands, and Eastern Vancouver Island from Courtenay to Campbell River, Nanoose Bay to Fanny Bay and Duncan to Nanaimo.

“Fog and low cloud have developed near water areas as a ridge of high pressure builds over the province. Fog patches are expected to lift with visibility improving near noon. If travelling, be prepared for areas of near-zero visibility,” Environment Canada says in a statement on its website.

The fog advisory is expected to be in effect until the afternoon.
