A fog advisory has been issued for eastern Vancouver Island — Courtenay to Campbell River and Nanoose Bay to Fanny Bay.

Another morning, another fog advisory for eastern Vancouver Island.

Environment Canada on Thursday issued its third straight fog advisory for eastern Vancouver Island — Courtenay to Campbell River and Nanoose Bay to Fanny Bay.

The weather agency says the fog is due to a ridge of high pressure that is trapping moisture near the surface.

“Visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop,” Environment Canada said in a statement.

The fog is expected to persist until Friday morning.

Fog advisories had been issued on Tuesday and Wednesday morning for eastern Vancouver Island. However, unlike in the previous two advisories, Nanaimo to Duncan is not included in Thursday’s advisory.
