The West Shore RCMP Drugs and Organized Crime unit have arrested 5 suspects following an investigation into a multi-jurisdictional drug trafficking operation.

According to a police report issued on Thursday, RCMP launched a “complex investigation” nearly one year ago. The results led police to execute three search warrants on two residences and one business location in the Capital Regional District.

West Shore RCMP said properties were searched in Langford, Shawnigan Lake and Duncan – all three were presumed to be linked to the same drug operation.

Approximately 90 grams of suspected cocaine, a prohibited modified handgun (found loaded and stored unsafely), 4 replica handguns, brass knuckles and a switchblade knife were among the items seized by the Drugs and Organized Crime Unit during their searches.

Officers also recovered a stolen vehicle and a stolen mountain bike during the search, according to West Shore RCMP.

In addition to the items recovered, police seized a few vehicles and one motorcycle as evidence.

During one of the executed warrants, officers also discovered an illegal, unlicensed marijuana grow-op that had over 100 plants.

“We arrested three male suspects, ages 32, 23 and 21 and two female suspects, ages 29 and 23,” said Cst. Pollock with West Shore RCMP Drugs and Organized Crime Unit.

The West Shore RCMP Drugs and Organized Crime Unit is continuing this investigation and numerous drug trafficking and weapons-related charges are expected to be forwarded to Crown Counsel.
