Pack your umbrella! Heavy rain is expected across Vancouver Island Wednesday heading into Thursday afternoon.
The first storm of 2019 is set to drench the island with 50-150 millimeters of rain by Thursday. Environment Canada has posted rainfall warnings for Greater Victoria and the east, west and inland regions of the Island, where the “vigorous” Pacific frontal system is expected to stall.
Environment Canada is warning the public to take precautions as heavy downpours can cause flash floods, water pooling on roads and other localized flooding.
East Vancouver Island is also under a wind warning, with gusts of more than 70 km/h expected especially over exposed coastal sections. The winds are expected to dissipate Thursday around midday.
Weather warnings issued for heavy rain, heavy snow and very strong winds across #bc this morning for the upcoming #bcstorm. See link for more details https://t.co/9TjbLdh3Ha Tweet your rain/snow/wind reports with the hashtag #bcstorm.
