There’s no cause for alarm if you see sirens and emergency crews working near the Qualicum Beach Airport on Wednesday.

A live emergency exercise has been scheduled for 10 a.m., Nov. 8, as part of a mandated requirement by Transport Canada.

The Town of Qualicum Beach says the exercise will include a “simulated occurrence” which will involve Qualicum Beach Fire Rescue, RCMP, the BC Ambulance Service and Qualicum Beach Airport staff.

The municipality notes that first responders will have their lights and sirens activated during the training exercise.

“In the unlikely but possible event of an actual incident occurring in the Qualicum Beach area, the exercise will immediately be terminated and all emergency staff will respond as required,” said the town in a notice posted Tuesday.
