The City of Victoria is giving the public a chance to address concerns and ideas to councillors in a series of town hall meetings, starting Thursday.

“Although our regular Council meetings are open to the public, we’ve heard from the community a strong desire for the opportunity to speak with Council about your ideas and priorities,” the city says on its website.

Thursday night is the first of four town hall meetings the city says it will hold annually, starting at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers at city hall.

Doors open at 6 p.m.

The two-hour meeting is an open format with participants setting the agenda and given five minutes to speak.

The city says “Council is here to listen.”

Speakers have until noon Thursday to submit presentation material to [email protected]

Free childminding will be available for children ages six-months and older for two hours.

The city says future town halls will focus on themes of accessibility and other community priorities.
