A fire broke out at a business park in Duncan Tuesday, July 13, 2021.

Crews responded to a massive fire in a Duncan business park Tuesday night.

Smoke could be seen for kilometres from a structure burning in Sun Valley Mall, a business park located beside Boys Road and the Trans-Canada Highway.

Witnesses told CHEK News that nearby buildings, including a Native Friendship Centre, have been evacuated and that roads around the fire were blocked but Trans-Canada Highway was not hindered by it.

Firefighters were still on scene working to put out the blaze as of 7 p.m. However, by 8 p.m. the blaze was mostly out, according to witnesses.

There’s no word yet on the cause of the fire.

CHEK has reached out to Duncan and North Cowichan fire departments for more information.
