A fire caused over $100,000 in damage to a character home in Victoria’s Gonzales neighbourhood on Friday night.

At around 8:30 p.m., multiple firefighters with the Victoria Fire Department including three engines responded to a structure fire at 1932 Quamichan Street, where smoke could be seen coming from the top of a character home.

In a press release, the Victoria Fire Department said the blaze was in the attic and roof area of the home and was quickly spreading to other parts of the house.

Firefighters had to use a ladder to get to an opening, that would allow a fire hose to pour water into the home.

Crews were able to put the fire out and no injuries have been reported.

The Victoria Fire Department says the damage is estimated at $150,000.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
