Federal Green Party leader Elizabeth May has announced she’s engaged.
Her fiance is Ashcroft resident John Kidder, one of the founders of the B.C. Green Party.
May says they were encouraged to become a couple by Sylvia Olsen, the mother of Vancouver Island MLA Adam Olsen.
“For all my single women friends out there, if you have a good friend who says, ‘Give me permission to be a matchmaker,’ take it on just in case,” May said. “I’m a very happy person and John Kidder is a wonderful person.”
The two plan to wed in Victoria this summer.
May says she will remain as leader and also stay in Sidney.
