Conservative Party Leadership candidate Kevin O’Leary was on Vancouver Island today.

O’Leary criticized Prime Minister Justin Trudeau while sharing his vision for the the Conservative Party and the country with a full house at the Hotel Grand Pacific this morning.

The star of “Dragon’s Den” and “Shark Tank” also took questions from the audience.

Those in attendance expressed their concerns about a number of issues including health care and the economy.

O’Leary says he would be the best of the 14 candidates vying for the leader’s job.

“I believe that should I win the leadership race that the caucus will all fall in line,” says O’Leary,  “because we all want to win I haven’t met any member of the caucus that does not want a majority mandate.”

Reaction from audience members was positive.

“He really has, I think the solution for Canada in that he knows the value of a dollar and he has proven that he can go from a basement business to a world financial leaderthink kevin.” According to one woman.

Another attendee enjoyed the session but stopped short of offering a leadership endorsement, “O’Leary would be a wonderful addition to government but I don’t think he has what I’d like to see in a leader.”

His high profile resonated with one man, “I agree with Kevin that brand is important if we want the Conservative Party to win against Trudeau then it has to be somebody who’s popular, who’s well known.”

O’Leary also appeared in Nanaimo over the lunch hour on Friday.

The new Conservative Party leader will be chosen at the party’s convention on May 26th and 27th in Toronto.
