Jesse Bennet and his daughter Violet were reported missing from their North Cowichan/Duncan residence on Jan. 23, 2022.

Mounties in the Cowichan Valley allege that a father who has gone missing with his seven-year-old daughter is likely actively evading police in breach of a custody order.

Jesse Bennet and his daughter Violet were reported missing from their North Cowichan/Duncan resident on Jan. 23, RCMP said in a news release.

It happened three days after a family law court set out a joint custody agreement on Jan. 20 ordering Jesse to return Violet to her mother that same day.

“To date, police and family have not been able to make contact with Jesse or Violet Bennet. We believe that Jesse Bennet is actively evading police and is in breach of the custody order, requiring him to return Violet to her mother,” Sgt. Trevor Busch of North Cowichan RCMP said in a statement.

Jesse is described as a white, 36 years old, 5’10”, 160 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair, but might have a shaved head or be wearing a hat. He also has a beard.

Violet is described as being around four feet tall, weighing about 50 to 60 pounds with blue eyes and big natural curly hair, say RCMP.

Anyone with information on the father and daughter’s disappearance is asked to call police at 250-748-5522.
