Extinction Rebellion activists held a “die-in” at the Ministry of Health building at Blanshard Street and Pandora Avenue on Thursday afternoon.

The group protested in the foyer from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

Climate protesters hold a “die in” at the B.C. Ministry of Health building in Victoria on Oct. 10, 2019.

Extinction Rebellion says the “die-in,” where protesters simulate being dead, was to demonstrate climate change’s threat to human health and call for urgent climate action.

“The die-in coincides with, and is in support of, the Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment (CAPE) and nineteen other groups representing hundreds of thousands of healthcare practitioners across the country as they meet with federal government officials to draw the connection between human health and climate breakdown, and demand stronger political action to tackle the climate emergency,” Extinction Rebellion Vancouver Island said in a statement.

Earlier this week, climate protesters across Canada shut down bridges, including the Johnson Street Bridge.
