An employee at the Thrifty Foods on Cliffe Avenue in Courtenay recently tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

According to an information bulletin posted on Sobey’s website on Monday, the employee’s last day worked was on Nov. 2.

Sobey’s, the parent company of Thrifty Foods, does not disclose when employees tested positive, instead, saying that they work with public health to support those who become infected.

“We will always do everything we can to support our teammates and ensure their safety,” reads a statement on Sobey’s website.

Sobey’s is one of the few remaining large corporations operating in B.C. to publicly announce if their employees test positive for COVID. The company recently announced that one of its employees at a store in North Cowichan also tested positive for the virus.
