A 76-year-old-man was airlifted to hospital after suffering a medical emergency and crashing his SUV on Highway 19 near Parksville on Friday morning.
Police said the driver was travelling northbound when he lost control of the vehicle, went across a grassy median and into oncoming traffic before hitting a concrete barrier.
Witnesses rushed to help the victim, even giving him CPR.
There were traffic delays in the area following the crash.
