BC Hydro says Elk Falls Suspension Bridge and the nearby Millennium Trail in Campbell River will re-open on July 1.

A popular attraction in the Campbell River area is set to open up just in time for Canada Day.

Elk Falls Suspension Bridge and the Millennium Trail will re-open on July 1.

Located inside Elk Falls Provincial Park, the Elk Falls Suspension Bridge receives around 200,000 annual visitors each year and is one of the last recreational sites in the Campbell River area to re-0pen amid the pandemic, a BC Hydro media release notes.

“We are excited to fully open these wonderful community amenities up again,” the release said.

BC Hydro is reminding guests to maintain proper physical distancing, stay away from congested areas, wash or sanitize often, and void high touch areas such as railings and signs.

Guests that are planning to visit the park in a group are also being asked to travel in smaller groups.

BC Hydro also said there will be increased cleanings of washrooms, garbage and recycle facilities.

Meanwhile, BC Hydro’s Campbell River Hydroelectric Facilities Discovery Centre, located beside the Elk Falls suspension bridge parking lot, is planned to reopen sometime in early July, the release noted.
