Elderly driver hospitalized after assault during road rage incident near Duncan

An 85-year-old Crofton man is recovering from injuries after he was assaulted during a road rage incident on Wednesday near Duncan.

RCMP say the man was heading along Herd Road when the driver of a silver Dodge Ram, seemingly unhappy with how slow the elderly man was driving, began tailgating him before passing him.

The pickup then pulled over in the 2500-block of Herd Road and the victim in a red car pulled in behind him.

RCMP say that after a short conversation, the driver of the pickup is alleged to have smashed the driver’s side window of the car before punching the elderly man repeatedly in the face and head. He then smashed the passenger side window before getting back in his vehicle and leaving.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries was not revealed.

RCMP say the pickup is described as a:

third generation Dodge Ram extended cab
short box
silver
white canopy with tinted side glass and a tinted rear glass
black or darker aftermarket rims
rear bumper had an accent along the length of the top

RCMP are asking the driver of the Ram to come forward.

They are also asking for the public’s help including anyone who may have witnessed the incident or may have dash camera video.
