Ed Bain and the Q! 100.3 celebrate 30 years on the air

WATCH: It’s been 30 years since 100.3 the Q! and morning show host Ed Bain first went on the air in Victoria. April Lawrence reports.

The champagne was flowing as Victoria’s first FM rock station went on the air.

It was December 12, 1987, when Victoria radio listeners were first introduced to morning show host Ed Bain.

“Thirty years ago this non-wrinkled finger at that time pushed that start button and on came the Rolling Stones’ Start Me Up, and we haven’t looked back,” Bain said.

What followed is years of rocking music, wild contests and friendship with Bain’s long-time morning show co-host Cliff LeQuesne.

“We’ve always had the ability to get along and get the job done, and again I’m very lucky to work with him because a lot of that has to with his personality,” said LeQuesne.

“He’s been a wonderful partner I couldn’t have asked for a better one,” said Bain.

After three decades, the technology may have changed but Ed and Cliff’s chemistry is still very much as fresh as it was on day one.

With participation in events and fundraisers like Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock, the radio hosts, and the entire station, have become an integral part of the community.

“We just have a great group of people here, a great staff, and a fun environment in the building and I think hopefully that comes through the speakers and a big part of why we do what we do,” said 100.3 the Q! Program Director Mark Zerr.
