Early morning vehicle incident shuts down southbound traffic on Pat Bay Highway

An early morning crash has shut down southbound traffic along the Patricia Bay Highway in Saanich on Monday morning.

The Saanich Police Department says that it received reports about a single-vehicle incident at approximately 5:17 a.m. on June 21.

The incident took place in the 5000-block of the Pat Bay Highway.

As a result of the incident, the highway was closed southbound from Sayward Road.

Additionally, northbound traffic was reduced to one lane.

Along with the Saanich PD, BC Emergency Health Services and Saanich Fire responded to the scene.

At this time it is unclear what caused the incident or if anyone was hurt as a result.

The southbound lanes have reopened as of 8:00 a.m., however, some traffic delays are expected.
