COVID-19 vaccine appointments at Eagle Ridge Arena are to be changed for the second time this summer due to high temperatures.

Island Health announced Thursday afternoon appointments at Eagle Ridge for Jul. 30 will be moved to the air-conditioned Victoria Conference Centre. All dates and times will remain the same, according to Island Health.

They say challenges faced in June because of the June heat wave and the forecasted temperatures this weekend led to the decision.

“We acknowledge this may be frustrating for some people and we ask for patience and understanding as we move through the effects of this weather event and plan to continue immunizations through the summer,” said Island Health in a press release. “We also want to acknowledge and thank our staff and volunteers for continuing to adapt during these recent challenges.”

Anyone affected will be directly contacted and notified by Island Health.

Information to stay safe in the heat can be found on the Island Health website.
