A dump truck struck power lines in Nanaimo on June 26, 2020.

Close to 90 BC Hydro customers lost power in south Nanaimo for several hours Friday after a dump truck hit power lines.

The collision happened at around 11:30 a.m. this morning on Old Victoria Road in Nanaimo.

The Nanaimo Fire Department says it appears the truck was travelling with its bin raised when it contacted the power lines.

The fire department confirms the same company’s truck was involved in a very similar incident at the same location a month ago, on May 25.

CHEK News has reached out to Milestone Contracting but has not heard back at this time.
