RCMP are recommending trafficking and possession charges after two people were arrested during a drug bust in Duncan on Friday.

The search warrant was served on Oct. 27 at a motel unit in the 2500 block of Alexander Street. Police were looking for evidence related to drug trafficking.

Officers found suspected opioids, cocaine and meth, as well as an undisclosed amount of cash. Packaging, scales and weapons were also seized.

Police said a 29-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man were arrested without incident. The woman will remain in custody until her next court appearance on Nov. 7. The man was released on a promise to appear in court at a later date.

The Municipality of North Cowichan’s bylaw enforcement was notified due to suspected opioids and other illicit drugs. The occupancy permit for the motel unit has been removed.

The drugs have been sent to Health Canada for further analysis. RCMP are recommending charges for trafficking, possession for the purpose of trafficking and various breach of bail conditions have been recommended to the Crown.
