Two drivers have been identified and held responsible after a pride crosswalk was damaged twice in Port Alberni.

Both the incidents, occurring on Aug. 17 and Sept. 28, involved vehicles damaging the surface of a rainbow-coloured crosswalk at Fourth Avenue and Argyle Street in Port Alberni, according to RCMP. They say the damage caused extra expense to the city’s works to repair.

Police say they were able to identify the drivers involved with help from the city and community. They say the two drivers were held responsible, however, both the drivers say there was not any intended message by their actions.
