A driver faces a hefty fine after being nabbed by Saanich police for dropping a lit marijuana cigarette out of a car window.

The $575 ticket was issued under the Wildfire Act.

It happened on the 4900-block of Cordoba Bay Road on Monday just before 10 a.m.

A post on social medial also reveals the driver faces a $253 fine for speeding in a playground zone and $109 for failure to change address.

Grand total: $937

It comes just days after Saanich police posted a specific reminder on social media about dropping lit cigarettes out of car windows.

“Do we really need to keep reminding people? Still getting calls about drivers throwing cigarettes out their car windows.”
