One driver was injured following a two-vehicle collision in Saanich Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

Around 2:30 p.m., Saanich Police officers responded to Shelbourne Street at Mortimer Street, where the two vehicles, a Toyota SUV and a Honda two-door car, were blocking traffic.

Communications officer Const. Markus Anastasiades says the collision was a T-bone caused by the driver of one vehicle turning left in front of the other.

He says one driver was hurt but noted their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Photos sent to CHEK News show firefighters and paramedics also on scene, and a witness says the injured driver was taken away by ambulance.

Between 2017 and 2021, ICBC says 26 crashes resulting in injury or death have happened at this intersection.
