One of the drivers who was injured in a head-on collision on the Trans-Canada Highway in Langford on Jan. 8 has died, police said Friday.

The two-vehicle crash occurred at 12:43 p.m. between a blue Honda Pilot and a silver Honda CRV on an undivided curve between Leigh Road and the Westshore Parkway.  The drivers of both SUVs were the lone occupants in their vehicles and were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

In a release, police confirmed one of the drivers passed away and the other driver is alive and recovering.

Police said the family has been notified and they will not be releasing the name of the person who died.

“This investigation is still ongoing, however speed and alcohol are not believed to be a factor in this collision at this time,” West Shore RCMP said in a statement.
