The driver of a vehicle that rolled over in North Saanich Monday night had minor injuries, but also got a roadside prohibition for impaired driving.

Sidney/North Saanich RCMP says a Victoria resident had to be freed from a vehicle in a ditch by firefighter personnel on Land’s End Road.

The crash happened around 8:30 p.m.

A bus stop sign was taken out by the vehicle at the corner of Howcrest Road.

RCMP says alcohol impairment was detected and a roadside prohibition was issued following a breathalyzer test.

The driver and lone occupant was taken to hospital with minor injuries but was later released.

Under B.C.’s Motor Vehicle Act, a roadside prohibition is issued to alcohol-affected drivers with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.05 and above.
