DoorDash has launched a new gifting feature for users across Canada allowing them to send treats to their loved ones from afar.

Over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, food delivery apps – such as DoorDash – have become a popular option for getting a meal as people are spending more time confined to their homes.

At the same time, restrictions have limited Canadians from getting together to celebrate marquee moments, such as birthdays, weddings, baby showers, engagements or graduation.

Now, DoorDash is offering a nation-wide solution to help Canadians send treats to the ones they love in a way of celebrating and showing gratitude from a distance.

Starting today, the food delivery app now offers a gifting feature, available ahead of the holiday season.

The feature allows users to send mouthwatering treats or meals from local restaurants to loved ones as COVID-19 continues to keep people apart.

Through the new “gifting feature,” users will be taken to a formal interface that will have a variety of ways to personalize your gift, including sending digital cards.

Customers will be able to choose their food items, including alcoholic beverages or desserts or a meal, and attach a personalized message.

The app will prompt you to input the recipient’s address and contact information for the delivery in cities across the country.

Customers will also have the option to schedule the delivery or share a link with the recipient so they can track the incoming order themselves or get in contact with the delivery driver.

An added bonus for gift-givers is that between November 19 and November 27, every customer who sends a gift of $20 or more on DoorDash will receive $10 off their next order.

A simple way to send some love this holiday season as COVID-19 surges and keeps us apart.
