A diver who disappeared on an outing near Winchelsea Islands last Friday has been found dead by members of an RCMP dive team.
On Aug. 13 at around 10 a.m., the man was recreational diving from a 14-foot vessel but didn’t surface when expected, according to RCMP.
A second man on the boat called a person on shore, who eventually called 911. Investigators say that due to a language barrier, there was a roughly two-hour delay in reporting the incident.
On Wednesday, Aug. 18, the missing man was found dead by RCMP divers searching in the area he was last seen.
The man’s next of kin have been notified and foul play is not suspected.
The BC Coroners Service is investigating the incident.
